I had the most wonderful time at Beulah. I probably haven't felt that happy in a very long time.
When first walking into the room, i was shocked to see how many of the adult wished to shake hands with me, each handshake gave me a buzz of happiness and made me feel extremely welcome into this environment. This then gave me the confidence to get to know each of the happy, enthusiastic adults. But at first i stood at the back of the room, right by a coat hanger, a women then walked up to me, asking to put her bag and coat on the coat hanger, i moved politely, to find that this women didn't just want to place her bag near the hanger but also to meet me. It made me feel young again, when everyone is on the same level and everyone just wants to have fun, drawing, playing with puzzles and just simply talking about what we like, what makes us most happy. I just want to go back, to go back to see these beautiful happy people.
It was really upsetting to then hear that they were sometimes not given the opportunities, that we had been given just because they were disabled, when they were very capable of moving, helping out and just generally doing everyday actions. But it was nice to here that some of then were learning how to cook or volunteer working.
I can't wait to go back.
